FAQ for students

When is the next GRØN DYST?

The next GRØN DYST is held June 22, 2012

Are we expected to develop something completely new or simply present sustainable/green technologies?

You are not required to ‘invent’ something new, but to work on the topic area(s) with supervision from your teacher.  The specific framework for the Green Battle is that you and perhaps your fellow students incorporate one or more of the topic areas (sustainability, climate technology, or the environment) in your course/project.

Can I sign up for GRØN DYST 2012 if I have not finished my project yet?

Yes, you can sign up before April 20 and submit a preliminary abstract or even just a project title. You will then have to upload your final abstract, at the sign-up site, no later than May 20. Your abstract will be printed as it is in the book of abstracts.

How do I revise my submission / my abstract?

In you confirmation mail you will find a link you can use if you wish to revise your submission, including uploading a revised abstract. Alternatively you can enter the code you received in your confirmation mail here. In case you have forgotten your code you can enter the email address you used when you registered your projekt here.

Am I allowed to participate with a project that I developed in the 13-week period or previously?

Yes, you may participate with projects developed between August 2010 and May 2012.

Am I allowed to participate with a Bachelor or a Masters project?
Yes. Bachelor and Masters projects each have their own special categories. Bachelor projects compete with other Bachelor projects, and Masters projects compete with other Masters projects.

I am a Bachelor of Engineering (‘Diplomingeniør’) student - can I participate in the Green Battle?

Yes, all DTU students can participate in the Green Battle Student Conference.

When is the examination, and is it graded on a pass/fail basis?
The Green Battle is not an exam, but an option within your course. The course exam will be conducted in the usual way. If you enrol in a special Green Battle course, you and your supervisor agree on the framework for your presentation, and you present your project and the results at the Green Battle Conference. The form of assessment – that is whether the grade is a pass/fail or an individual mark – will be settled by mutual agreement between you and your supervisor.

What are the requirements for specialised courses?

As is customary for specialised courses at DTU, you and your supervisor agree upon the course requirements. If you enrol in a specialised course, you agree on the framework for the presentation with your supervisor, and you make your presentation at the Green Battle. The form of assessment – that is, whether the grade given is a pass/fail or a mark – is also settled by mutual agreement between you and your supervisor.

Am I supposed to write a report?

Your course will be evaluated in the usual way. In addition to the standard course evaluation, you must make a presentation at the Green Battle. The presentation may take the form of a poster, a brief laptop presentation, an experiment, or a theatre play. The possibilities are endless – use your imagination!

What are the project presentation requirements at the Green Battle?
You can choose to present your project and your results on a poster, on a laptop or you can make a freestyle presentation. However, you have to decide on your presentation format when you register for the Green Battle.

Should I present my project in Danish or in English?
All abstracts must be in English. Bachelor of Engineering (Diplomingeniør) students and bachelor students can choose to present their project in Danish or in English. Master students must present their project in English.

Can I sign up even if I am not a DTU student?

Yes, students from DTU's partneruniversites can sign up.

How do I perform a Life Cycle Check?

You can make sure that your project really is gren by performing a Life Cycle Check (LCC). See how you you can perform a simple LCC or a more thorough LCC.

Can I attend a Roskilde Festival Course and sign up for GRØN DYST as well?
